Hello, Resident Club Members! Below are the questions received in advance of tomorrow’s Annual General Meeting followed by the responses to those questions from either the Club management or the Advisory Board. I will go over them again at tomorrow’s meeting.

Joe Barry

Chair, Equinelle Resident Club Advisory Board

1. Question - Can we request eQ change gym access to 0500 hrs for members who work in the city 0600hrs is too late for a morning workout.

Response from the General Manager: Rick Milks - With consideration of the neighbours living beside the eQuinelle parking lot. 6:00 am is the earliest time we wish to see activity in the eQuinelle Clubhouse.

2. Question - What’s the procedure if I cancel my EQ membership and decide to rejoin later? Also, if I cancel my membership, do I get my $500 back? If I remember correctly, when we moved in, 12 years ago, there was a one-time refundable $500 initiation fee to join the residences club on top of the yearly membership fee."

Response from the General Manager: Rick Milks - Upon cancellation of the eQuinelle Resident Club Membership in writing. Members who paid the $500 deposit are entitled to have it refunded. Currently, the fees to join the eQuinelle Resident Club are: Enrollment Fee $1,500 plus tax; Household Annual Fee $1,325.00 plus tax or Single Annual Fee $1,050 plus tax. These fees apply to all, new applicants and past members.

3. Question - Any consideration to offering a seasonal membership for snowbirds?

Response from the General Manager: Rick Milks - No, we only provide full-year memberships.

4. Question - Is it possible to have an indoor play area for toddlers during the winter/snow season?

Response from the Chair, Advisory Board: Joe Barry – We would certainly consider it. It is not feasible to have a space or room dedicated soley to an indoor play area so it must be set up and taken down each time a session is scheduled. This was attempted last winter when one of our members organized and led a Saturday morning 0-6 year old play group. Unfortunately, participation dropped to zero and it was decided to stop holding playgroup sessions. We are ready to try again if someone is willing to organize and lead an indoor play group activity.

5. Question - Since the October newsletter had an article about the Community Watch, I am wondering if there will be any info about it during the AGM?

Response from the Chair, Advisory Board: Joe Barry – I met with the two leaders of this proposal: John Rozich and Andre Rancourt last week. The newsletter article produced responses from just two people who expressed interest. To establish a OPP Community Watch program, 50% of a neighbourhood’s households must participate so it is apparent that the interest is not there yet. John and Andre plan to try again in the spring.

6. Question - If possible I would like clarification on the guest policy.  Specifically, guests who do not live in the neighborhood.  Are we permitted to use the facilities such as pickleball courts with non-residents, so that we can enjoy facilities with our friends.  I have seen comments suggesting we aren’t permitted to regularly use facilities with friends from outside the community and I’d like clarification please.

Response from the Chair, Advisory Board: Joe Barry – Guests are permitted in accordance with the 2018 policy which can be found our website: https://equinelleresidentclub.com under the Members’ Resource Library. The Advisory Board recently submitted a new draft guest policy to eQ and are awaiting its approval. In this draft policy, members are not permitted to bring guests on a regular basis (occurring in regular time intervals or patterns) since the intent of the club membership is one of reasonable, exclusive use by the membership while accommodating some guests.

7. Question - Are there any plans on expanding the size of the club house or the pool given the continued growth of EQ?

Response from the Chair, Advisory Board: Joe Barry – Although discussed with the club management that very point on several occasions, eQ has no plans to expand the clubhouse or the pool at this time.
