Library Gives Boost to Popular Books

Library Gives Boost to Popular Books

Popular fiction books in our Resident Club Library are now more accessible than ever thanks to some reorganization by the Library Committee. These books were recently moved lower from the hard-to-reach upper shelves meaning that browsers no longer have to stand on a step stool to reach them.  Not only is this safer for all but the change ensures that the effected books are borrowed more often.

In addition, because we have a large number of books donated on an ongoing basis and limited space, it is sometimes necessary to cull the collection. Recently, we removed books older than ten years and donated them to the Kemptville Youth Centre for their annual book sale. The Centre was delighted to get them.

To assist us in keeping the library well organized we ask that you not re-shelve books but rather place them in the basket for returns. We are marking each book that has been borrowed so that in future we will know which are most popular. Going forward this will assist us in determining which books to keep.

Lastly, we will be holding a donation day in early October and would ask for your donation of recent best sellers in good condition. We regret that we are unable to accept books older than 10 years.

We hope that the changes above will make your library more accessible and enjoyable for all.
